Research Thesis

"Compression of Video Sequences using Three-Dimensional Vector Quantization".

A video sequence is often visualized as a three-dimensional (3D) signal X, Y, (spatial) and T (time).

Thus we extend the 2D-DCT compression approach (Discrete Cosine Transform) to 3D-DCTMore

We have also tested compression scheme based on a localized approach to video sequences using 

three-dimensional vector quantization (3D VQ). According to the proposed model, recent localized 

history of the sequences is used to encode present frames based on a hierarchical approach. More
