This experiment gives a brief introduction to image processing with hands-on exercises based on MATLAB code with its image processing toolbox.

  • Image representation in MATLAB
  • Color models, thresholds, histogram
  • Noise reduction
  • Morphological operations
  • Edge detection
  • Segmentation, labeling
  • Feature extraction

Prerequisites

Students are required to have passed:

044198 Introduction to Digital Signal Processing
(Students without this course - please consult instructor in advance.)

This experiment is for students who have no previous formal background in image processing, thus students must NOT have studied or be registered to to any of the following courses:

236327 Signal and Image Processing by Computer
236860 Digital Image Processing
046200 Image Processing & Analysis
(Students who are registered to any of those - their registration will be canceled)
