Announcements:

  • 19.8.08 The grading of Moed Miluim has been completed. Unfortunately, the grades could be announced and forwarded to the UG office only once the strike of the teaching assistants is over.
  • 16.7.08 As planned, Moed Miluim will take place on 28/7/08. According to our data, it will start on 28/7/08 at 18:30 in Room Fischbach 506. However, please re-check for potential last-minute updates at the UG Web-site (for a link, see the announcement of 10.6.08 below). To qualify for Moed Miluim you have to show the original ISHUR Miluim to one of the course's staff before the exam. Good luck!

  • 23.6.08 A comment/correction has been added to Question 7 of Part 1, Moed B. As a result, several students have received a raise of 10 points for that part. Their new grades have been forwarded to the UG office and these higher grades are expected to replace their previous grades soon.
  • 10.6.08 Final grades for Moed B are available here. Based on the statistics, no factor/adjustment was needed.
Moed Miluim is planned for 28/7/08, starting at the time of the 2nd Test of the spring "Theory of Electronic Circuits". Please check the UG web-site for up-to-date details regarding location and exact time.
To attend Moed Miluim, please show your ISHUR Miluim (the original, as issued at the end of the Miluim service) to one of the lecturers or the TAs before the exam. We will also need a hardcopy or a scanned copy of the ISHUR by email.
The material and rules for Moed Miluim are identical to those of Moed B, however, depending on the number of students, it may consist of open questions rather than multiple-choice.
  • 6.6.08 The answers to Moed B are available here for Part 1 and here for Part 2.
  • 26.5.08 Moed B consists of 2 parts, corresponding to the 2 tests during the semester. Each part is based on the same material of the corresponding test during the semester. The allocated time for each part is 90 minutes. A student who is present at the exam room at the beginning of a part is considered as taking that part and has to submit the answer sheet by the end of the allocated time. The new grade will then replace any previous record regarding that test. The calculation of the final grade is similar to the calculation during the semester.
  • 21.5.08 Final grades for Moed A of the course are available here. Due to the special situation, it has been decided to consider the grades of the computer exercise as OVER/NICHSHAL (Pass/Fail), where an OVER grade (above 55) means full credit for a part, i.e., 6% of the final grade for each OVER part.
The graded works are available at the Fischbach library.
  • 18.5.08 An updated list of grades for the Computer Exercise - Part 1 and Part 2 is available here. Regarding Part 1, Shay Maayani has completed the grading of additional works that he had mistakenly overlooked in his first grading.
Unfortunately, as far as we know, Shay hasn't returned yet the graded works to the Fischbach library. We will announce when this happens, and from that date students will have 2 weeks to appeal Shay Maayani's grades, if needed.
  • 14.5.08 Due to difficulties with grading some of the computer exercises, the deadline for appeals is postponed until 25.5.08. Those who wish to contact Shay Maayani, the grader, may try also at his mobile phone - the phone number was published in our messages to the mailing list of the course on 14.4.08 and 14.5.08. If you have not received these messages you may like to check your subscription to the mailing list, or whether these messages were considered spam by your mailer.
  • 6.5.08 The grades of the computer exercise - Part 1 are available here. If needed, appeals will be considered in writing only. In such a case, please attach your written appeal to your original work, and place both in Shay Maayani's personal mailbox at the 8th floor, EE Meyer building. Deadline for appeals: 16.5.08. Please keep a copy for your records. If you have difficulties in finding your graded work, please check with Shay Maayani.
  • 14.4.08 Unfortunately, we are aware of difficulties in contacting Shay Maayani, the homework grader, regarding the second computer exercise. Shay will add office hours during this week: on Tuesday and on Wednesday, both at 15:00-16:00.
Those who have Miluim of more than one day during April 1-17 will get an automatic deadline extension of 2 weeks from the last day of their miluim service. For this we will need their ISHUR miluim, as issued at the end of the army service. We wish all those students safe Miluim.
Personal cases not associated with Miluim could be brought to the attention of Shay Maayani or the KIDUM STUDENTIM unit of the Technion.
  • 13.4.08 Since the topic of 'two-port' was not completely covered in one of the lecture groups, only 2 out of the 3 questions of 'Computer Exercise - Part 2' will be needed for submission. Those who will submit all 3 questions will be graded based on the best 2 questions.
  • 10.4.08 Grades of Test 2 are available here. The grades contain additional 7 points (factor) to adjust the statistics to previous tests - the resultant average is slightly higher than last semester. The answers will be soon available at "Exercises, Information & Exams" (above).
  • 2.4.08 Computer Exercise - Part 2 is now available here.
  • 26.3.08 Submission of the computer exercise (Part 1) is postponed until Monday 31.3.08 at 17:00.
  • 25.3.08 The material for Test 2 is based on the lectures given during Weeks 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 of the semester + their associated 5 tutorials. Naturally, the material of Test 1 serves as a background for the material of Test 2. Most of the topics are presented in Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9 of Prof. Schachter's booklet (March 2006 edition). The operational amplifiers topic (and other relevant topics) is presented in the associated Exercises booklet.
    Good luck!
Students looking for additional exercises, beyond the Lecture/Exercise Booklets and previous exams, can consider the book "Schaum's Outline of Electric Circuits", by Edminister and Nahvi (4th edition, 2003), Ex. 4.2-4.4, 4.6-4.13, 5.1-5.5, 5.8, 5.19, 5.22-5.29, 5.35-5.48, 7.1-7.51, 9.18-9.26; 10.9-10.12, 10.18; 12.12-12.15, 12.22-12.27; 14.1-14.21. Please note that this list of problems does not define the required material for Test 2 and is given only as a potential source of questions for those who wish to improve their background in electric circuits.
  • 19.3.08 Those who wish to find a partner for the computer exercise can try the Moodle forum here.
  • 13.3.08 Grades of Test 1 are available here. The grades contain additional 5 points (factor) to adjust the statistics to previous tests - the resultant average is slightly higher than last semester. The answers will be soon available at "Exercises, Information & Exams" (above).
Regarding the computer exercise: due to a problem, the PDF file published yesterday has been replaced. Please see an up-to-date version. The corrected due date is thus 27.3.08.
  • 12.3.08 Computer Exercise - Part 1 is now available here.
  • 3.3.08 Clarifications regarding Test 1:
Material - please see our announcement of 10.2.08 (below). The topics are presented in the first 4 chapters of Prof. Schachter's booklet (March 2006 edition).
Weight and use of material/equipment during the test - please see the Information Page , which was distributed at the beginning of the semester.
Number of questions and duration of the test - please see examples of tests given during Spring 2007.
Location and time - according to the undergraduate site.
    Good luck!

  • 10.2.08 The syllabus this semester is based on the official syllabus without the following sections from Prof. Schachter's booklet (March 2006 edition): 3.2, 3.4, 6.5, 6.6, 6.7, 6.8, 6.9, 6.10, 7.2, 7.5, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5, 8.6, 8.7, 10.1, 10.2, 11.7, 11.8, 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 12.4, 12.5,12.6.
The material for Test 1 is based on the lectures given during the first 5 weeks of the semester + their associated 5 tutorials. The material for Test 2 is based on the lectures given during the following 5 weeks of the semester (Weeks 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) + their associated 5 tutorials. Naturally, the material of Test 1 serves as a background for the material of Test 2.

  • 3.2.08 The new dates of the 2 tests during the semester (jointly considered as Moed A) are as follows:
    Test 1 - on Monday, March 10, 2008
    Test 2 - on Monday, April 7, 2008
Please see the Information Page of the course for details regarding their weights in the final grade.

  • 22.1.08 Once the first lectures are given today (Tuesday, Moshe Porat's group) and tomorrow (Wednesday, David Gidony's group), we start the tutorials as originally planned, based on the lectures.
Tutorial 1 will be given starting Wednesday 23.1.08 according to the original schedule and locations. This tutorial is similar to the tutorial given during the first weeks of the strike, however, more time will be dedicated this time to the exercises, instead of the extended theoretical introduction that was needed when the lectures were not held.
Those of you who attended the first tutorial during the strike are welcome to attend this tutorial again to refresh their memory and associate the material with the lectures.

  • 30.10.07 If the strike continues, no tutorials and Sadnaot will be given after 30.10.07.
  • 29.10.07 The Sadna of Tuesday 30.10.07 takes place as scheduled. Please check for further updates regarding Wednesday 31.10.07 and beyond.
  • 27.10.07 The tutorials on Sunday 28/10 and Monday 29/10 will take place as scheduled. The material in these tutorials will be similar to the tutorials given on 24/10/07 and 25/10/07. The Sadna of Sunday 28.10.07 takes place as well.
An announcement regarding studies on Tuesday 30/10 and beyond is expected by 29/10.
Please note that the tutorials of Wednesday (15:30-16:30 & 16:30-17:30) have been moved to Meyer 354 for the rest of the semester.
  • 22.10.07 The tutorials of Wednesday 24.10.07 and Thursday 25.10.07 will be given according to schedule. If the strike continues, these tutorials will be as much as possible self-contained including an introduction for those who haven't attended the first lecture of the course. As announced already - no workshops (sadnaot) will be given until 26.10.07. Please check towards the end of this week for further information regarding next week.

  • 19.10.07 The tutorials in this course will be given after the first lecture of both lecture-groups are held. If the lectures start as planned on 23.10.07 and the morning of 24.10.07, this means that the first tutorials will be given in the afternoon of Wednesday 24.10.07. Please follow closely future email messages and the web-site of the course for further updates in case of a strike.
The exact dates of the workshops ("sadnaot") in this course will be announced once the first lectures are given, i.e., no workshops are planned in any case until 26.10.07.
